There are several different Bar blends, only some contain robusta. This is the main KIMBO site and this page is the Kimbo Bar product listing. http://www.kimbo.it/Espresso-Bar-86?lang=en They are all rather good and markedly different.

The words they use to describe their various blends on their website made me chuckle. "Decisive." "Unmistakable." "Intense."

Not very descriptive by 3rd Wave coffee standards for sure! Unfortunately, I find the same descriptions of coffee prevalent here in Japan too. When I describe coffee as having fruit-like notes people look at me as if I'm crazy, or they ask if it's flavored coffee - so I'm guessing Kimbo would find the same issue if they described their coffee differently than they do.

I think you'll find that many people (in fact I believe a majority) is unable to translate tasting notes of whine, coffee etc for themselves. Using bold descriptions may just be enough from a practical and marketing perspective....

WIne is usually ordered as 'a dry white/red/rose', i was recently talking about the selection of a new single origin with one of the baristas at work and she mentioned they now wanted something more spicy...when I asked what sort of spices she was thinking off she was unable to specify that a bit further.
I'm also sure that when you ask someone in Japan to describe the qualities of tuna and the differences in flavor they'd leave us miles behind with the description and ability to taste subtle nuances.
For quite a while now I think it's a matter of training, or familiarizing, like describing the nuances of wine, audio quality, and food coffee too has a specific language that needs to be learned before it can be easily used.

+1 (+1000000)

Generally, people only know if they like something or not; sweet, salty, sour, bitter are the main flavors of description. It took me a long time to understand wine notes, and over the last couple of years, I've just begun to understand coffee notes.

I can't describe Japanese coffee in general, other than to say it's over-roasted, or sometimes charred/burned. There are many of people here that love it, so I'm not about to tell them their all wrong. I'm trying to work with a local roaster to get a roast I like, but it might take some time - although I think it would be a good thing for both of us to work out.

I plan to give some Kimbo a try myself in the coming months and am looking forward to it.

so after a month, I can say i prefer Kimbo superior premium to lavazza super crema.
I have yet to try the danesi.

And tbh, I even prefer kimbo to 49th parallel. I guess im not good enough in extraction or I like simpler unforgiving coffee that taste good no matter your technique.

Ill be trying other brands after this batch as im sure (I hope) I can find better italian coffee then kimbo.

im trying this vergnano this week
https://www.google.ca/search?q=caffe+ve ... vmbYS_M%3A

The danessi is dissapointing and may have preffered cafe motta.

Id rank them so far:
1-Kimbo superior blend
2-lavazza super crema
3-Vergnano
4- Danessi and cafe motta. I may even prefer cafe motta to danessi.

I'll try the lavazza top class and kimbo Napoletano, next time around. Im also trying to find Cagliari Espresso Bar and Segafredo Massimo
