Ecco in NYC

Sounds like all you New Yorkers are going to be able to pick up Ecco coffee at Joe the Art of Coffee starting tomorrow.

Stopped by Joe's in Grand Central this morning and I can confirm that as of today they are using Ecco and no longer Barrington.

I am not sure why they switched, but some customers were visibly and verbally dissapointed that they could no longer get the house coffee (Vienna Roast Panama Boquete Casa Ruiz) they have become accustomed to.

They posted a long notice to customers explaining the switch, but I didn't get a chance to read it.

Excellent! It was a sad day for me when Grumpy stopped using Ecco a couple of years ago. While the new Stumptown opening is quite welcome, variety is a good thing.

I just went to Joe on the upper west side and got myself a cup of Ecco, really tasty.

I talked to them a bit about why they switched, they said that basically Barrington doesn't like to stay, or at least try to stay, on the "forefront" of coffee, which Joe looks for in their coffee, and they found Ecco who does, so they decided to switch.
