Counter Culture Coffee's Rustico

Postby BenBob on Fri Apr 10, 2009 5:47 pm

Just tried some of CCC's Rustico -3 days after roast -Very nice, chocolate, dates, and a bit of dried cherry .Excellent mouthfeel-if it were a wine it would be in the amarone family with just a nice touch of bittersweet on the finish.Overall very nice -a nice change from Aficionado (which is also very nice.)

I'm well through my bag (roasted on 4/7) and I'm enjoying it as well. It's quite a bit darker (in flavor, don't know about roast color) than the bag of PTs Ethiopia Sidamo espresso that I just finished, but it certainly is tasty. Working nicely both with fine grind, light tamp, 12g, one pull and with coarse grind, firm tamp, 14g, one pull. I tried two pulls with a coarser grind and 15g but I still wasn't getting what I wanted (it was not as good as one pull) so I went back to that.

I also recently tried this coffee and really enjoyed it. I liked the chocolate notes and find it pretty mellow. Living on the east coast I also like the fact that I get their coffee two days after roasting!
