+1 on Daterra Sweet Blue. I've had numerous bags from idrinkcoffee and they roast it medium dark. They describe it as "an elegant dark and spicy chocolate bar". And it is.

I also remember it working well for immersion brew.

I should get some more. It has been a while.

EDIT: Counter Culture is based in your state. Perhaps their Big Trouble is in line with what you're looking for. I've never tried it, since I'm in Canada. So others here would have to comment if it's chocolatey enough.

Yes Counter Culture was based here in Charlotte, and then they moved eastward to Durham a while back. I have a Fresh Market down the road from me and they sell CC. I went over there in June to try some out, but the roast dates on many of the bags were a few months old and few were listed from Nov! That was surprising and I wrote a note to CC alerting them to that.

Perhaps I will try again today :)

They've been in Durham from day one. However, there are a few good shops that use their coffee in CLT, which you should be aware of and buy your bagged coffee from. Stale Market is not where it's at.

I vote for the big trouble as well, it's more milk chocolate than dark chocolate though. I'd imagine if you call them they will tell you who has it in Charlotte.
Heck, I can get it fresh here in Chicago from couple different places.

Ahh Ok....I guess what I read gave wrong info. Though they started in Charlotte. Oh well, went to Fresh Market and they had some fresher Mocha than Big Trouble.

I believe CCC used to have a training center in Charlotte which closed several years ago.
Tomorrow came sooner than expected.

Here is something odd.....

I went to the CC website and they do not even have Mocha Java listed. They have Hologram, which is their updated version of Mocha Java. The bag I purchased had a 7/1 on it. Perhaps that was from 2014? LOL Fresh Market also had a coffee listed as 10/1 so who knows!

On IDC they don't mention the quantity of coffee for the Daterra beans. Is it 0.5 lbs? 0.75 lbs? 1 lb like all the others?

I asked a few months ago when I noticed the same thing on their website. They said all Daterra bags are 1lb (454oz).

But if you're ordering I'd ask again to be sure. I always buy in person because I live 20 minutes away driving. But I haven't gone there in quite a while.
