prima-coffee.com: coffee & espresso equipment and accessories

Coffee Recipe Database/Repository

Postby wiz561 on Sun Aug 02, 2009 10:28 am

Hi!

I was wondering if there is any interest out here for a web site for coffee recipes. I was thinking something like single origin reviews and brewing recommendations, sources of info, and then even things like home grown recipes for iced coffee and speciality drinks.

If something like this already exists, that would be great. If not, I was thinking of possibly doing something like this if enough interest is out there.

Thanks,
Mike

It's one of those topics that come up again and again. Right now folks just post their thoughts here (esp. for SO recommendations and prep findings/guidelines) and on a few other sites (you can find a lot of good cafe recommendations in the Regional forums on CG), and you can search the forums for them.

Thanks for the info. I've seen the stuff at CG, and while it is good, it's nothing I really had in mind.

In my spare time, I might try to set something up and see how it works out. I've been looking at a few different php recipe web sites and might start eval'ing or building my own. If I ever do get it done, I'll let people know here.

OK, I'm testing out something called "openeats". It's a sourceforge project that is orientated towards recipes. I got the site installed and running and I'm just making a few minor tweaks before I post it here. For example, we're probably not going to have "beef" for a recipe base, and most drinks might be inspired by a type of food, but it's not necessarily "italian" or "mexican".

So yeah, it's up and running but just needs a bit of polishing...

It may not be exactly what you're looking for, but you might want to see what's on Wikipedia. Since James Hoffman mentioned expanding the coffee articles a few weeks ago, a lot of improvement has been done.

It would be nice to have something centralized, semi-professional, accurate, and as all-inclusive as possible.
