If I'm going to let hot water pass through unpacked tea leaves and not build up any pressure whatsoever, what do I need an espresso machine for?

Also, last time I checked, tea should be made with boiling water, not 200F-ish water.

Looks like another take on snake oil to me.

I will occasionally make tea this way. Not bad, but any resemblance to espresso is purely in the minds of the marketeers.

?

Black tea is often pretty tolerant of water just off the boil, but I understand it's great to brew at espresso brewing temp (200F isn't far off what just off boil water will be after it's sat for a few moments); green tea is utterly disgusting (to me) when brewed just off the boil, and is supposed to be brewed in the 170-190F range. But I am no tea buff, so fact checking may be in order. On the other hand, I can get boiling water at my brewhead with no trouble at all--just skip the flush!
