Best place to buy an espresso blend in Boulder, CO

Postby CelliniEVO on Thu Jun 09, 2011 2:44 pm

Been mostly buying Conscious Coffee's TUKU Blend, but tried contacting them multiple times to ask a couple questions and never get a call-back so I've been thinking about switching things up.

I've tried both roasts from OZO and wasn't a fan of the lighter one, but the darker is alright.....can't recall the names right now. But love how they constantly have fresh beans on the shelf and thus make it easy to get in and out. Plus they are cheapest I've found at $12/lb

Got a half lb. of Silver Canyon at the farmer's market awhile back and thought it was decent, really dug how they have the recommend temp on the bag.

Went to Trident yesterday and they are using BoxCar beans from May 16th and use them up to a month old.....I know there is less oxygen here and thus they degas slower, but that is non-sense if u ask me.

Is the only place to buy NOVO at Tea&Cakes? Really want to give it a try.

Currently experimenting with Kaladi Bros Trieste Blend and it seems to be pretty good......I've only been pulling my own shots for a couple months so I'm enjoying the experimenting but hoping to find something reliable and slow the experimentation down a bit.

Thanks for any recommendations

i'm home-roasting so not buying a lot of pre-roasted beans but when i have, i've also enjoyed the darker OZO roast (was it called 2012 or something like that?).

another local roast i enjoyed was "passion cup" from unseen bean:

Ozo's Mexican single origin (I can't remember the spelling of the name - Majomut or something like that) is great for espresso; they have it all the time. The Nicaraguan Segovia is also good, but they're out of it until the fall. I have a hard time with their Espresso 2012 (their standard light roast blend) but I keep trying. They have a whole set of new single origin roasts very recently and they do free cuppings at 2pm on Friday at their roastery.

Also, the new Alfalfa's grocery story carries a limited selection of fresh Stumptown and Intelligentsia for insanely expensive prices.
