Discuss flavors, brew temperatures, blending, and cupping notes.

Good afternoon,

I might be running out of my Counter Culture beans before my next bag gets here from Caffe d'Bolla. Other than their espresso blend (that I'm not too big a fan of) can you recommend any Oren's coffees or blends to use as espresso (or characteristics of a coffee that I might have better luck with than others)? I'm picking Oren's because the beans are fresh, down the street, and available in 1/4lb bags.

(In avoiding their espresso blend, I'm also hoping to avoid their super-dark-roast blend, whatever that may be.)

Thanks!

IIRC, Oren is a proud no espresso person; so if anything he sells is suitable for espresso, it's a slip up. If you do find something, don't tell him, since he'll stop stocking it :D

I would try the Sidamo #3, the Harar, and the Brazil Cerrado. These are dry process coffees, which greatly improves the odds that they will work for espresso.
