Alexia + Rocky + which blends?

Postby skittles_s on Fri May 20, 2011 9:25 am

Hi: first post here.

I have a Quickmill Alexia paired with a Rocky grinder. I'm simply curious about which blends others with a similar setup to mine have had success with?

I've enjoyed the CC Toscano and Fall 2010 Apollo blends quite a bit. I've also loved the Dogwood blend from Minneapolis roaster, Dogwood Coffee. I've never had much luck with Black Cat with my setup which has been disappointing; same with CC Aficionado. (Disclosure: I still need a scale to make my efforts a bit more rigorous.)

So, anyone have a favorite with Alexia? Or, any pointers on taming the Black Cat with this setup?

I do not think that the equipment has much if anything to do with it. You are already on the right road. Buy, drink, decide. Only you can tell what coffee you like.

Every time I purchase a pound of Metropolis Redline, I redeclare it as the best bean I have ever purchased. If you have not tried it yet, don't deny yourself the pleasure!

Just to clarify, I've enjoyed Black Cat immensely when pulled elsewhere - just not on my machine.

Redline: will try it soon.

You need a scale AND Eric's e61 thermometer.
Without them you're pulling blind.
IMO, Black Cat likes a hefty updose and warmer climate.

Just to report back, I've had very good luck with the CC Apollo 4.3 with this setup. Delicious!
