Advice pulling Moreninha Formosa

Postby appa on Tue Nov 09, 2010 4:02 pm

Hi,

Got some Moreninha Formosa from Muddy Dog. Its 2 weeks
old (shame on me, but drove there, so didnt want to leave empty
handed, another story).

My best results are pulling about 1oz w 14-15 grams pulled tight,
and running my Bezzera "HOT" (2 seconds of cooling flush)

My best gets me syrupy sweet, but not much else.

Is this something I should only be pulling super fresh? or is
this basically a sweet shot and not much else?

From what Ive searched here, it seems its used in blends, but not
as a straight SO.

Any advice on how or whether or not to pull this alone is appreciated

Thanks

I roasted some earlier this year. Syrupy sweet is what it's about -- not really an SO, but a coffee to use as a blending base for more acidic beans.

Try pulling it with an overfilled basket, cool and lungo. You may get some more interesting raisin and dessert wine flavors.

Thanks Jim,

I just wanted to make sure I was within the ball park.

As of now, I wouldn't drink it again, but it was a good
learning experience at least...
