I heard about Vertigo Coffee Roasters in San Juan Bautista, California from Patrick Martin's Instagram, he described it as the best coffee he's had in five years. Patrick is one of the founders of Chromatic Coffee, a local favorite of mine so I figured I'd better check Vertigo out.

I ran the idea past my Wife and kids and they were up for a trip South so we headed out for lunch, antiquing, ice cream then a trip to their cafe. They roast on a Probat and feature wood fired pizza; which we didn't try, having had Korean BBQ in Morgan Hill on the way down. They had Ethiopia Konga Natural and Koke washed for pour-over and a Brazil / Mexico / Ethiopia blend for espresso. I had the espresso and Konga and both were nicely sweet showing good roasting and prep, I was very impressed. It's nice to see good coffee in a small town.
