Ya, I realize that. Initially I just wanted to revive this thread to see if anyone else hasn't 'checked-in' that should.

When he offered the place for us to use the GB5 and a Robur to have some fun in a Diner setting there's no way that wouldn't be fun and awesome.

Look for a thread coming up soon. I'm thinking early to mid-July for the event. We'll have to get our coffee orders in and have enough time before the date set so people can plan to be in Toronto, if they don't live in the GTA.

I just came across this thread... sorry for checking in late.

My coffeee lightbulb went on 5 years ago when, in San Fran for work, I visited the Blue Bottle. The next vacation with my wife was of course to San Fran to show her the light. Fortunately she "got it" and has been very supportive of my (our) quest to bring that expeprience home.

My kit just upgraded from a Rocket Cellini Evo / Baratza Vario that served me well for two years to a pre-owned but never used Elektra T1 and Macap M4. You may have seen the ad recently on Kijiji (Peterborough). I had to promise this was the last possible upgrade and I think it will be. The Elektra is not yet in use because the plumbing still needs to happen but I can at least play with a real stepless grinder for the time being. The seller did not have the T1's manual so if anyone can suggest where to get one I'd appreciate the help.

A note about my recent tamper experience: I was using a RB c-curve but the flat bottom Elektra tamper is much better. I know they say tampers are a personal preference but anyone would agree with the improvement I am getting.

As for beans...
- I consistently bought Punch Buggy from Detour for the first year (to keep one variable fixed), then moved to Social's offerings for a time and am now enjoying Detour's subscription, which is a random "roaster's choice."
- My favourite from Social is People's Liberation; tied for 2nd are San Isidro Colombia and Centrocafe Peru. I bought the Centrocafe at Tamp in Burlington and was told it is one half of the Farmer's Collective blend that he ordered special because he didn't like FC as it was.
- Manual Labour is worth looking into. Matt, the owner, sometimes shows up as a guest barista at the Cannon on Ottawa St. If you are in Hamilton I suggest Cannon for it's all female staff and waffle sandwiches.

Have I missed the get together?

Hi Rob from Mississauga bordering Oakville.
Just sold my Brasilia Cappuccino DEL-1 and matching Brasilia Rossi BFD grinder.
Looking to move on from HX machines.
Drip coffee - Bonavita BV1800TH unit
Coffee Press - Xlarge double wall Frieling/Paderno SS unit (no more glass)
Collection of SS Moka Pots which I use to make excellent Americanos
Single coffee - Clever Coffee Dripper or Aeropress
Handpresso - for work

Espresso love started young and expanded with European travels.

Both most beans from local roasters:
Reunion Island, Muldoons Own, Carvalho & Java works
Between order and chaos there is espresso.
Semper discens.

Mike, welcome! I will add you to the list in the OP.

I have a request for all in this thread. Please, if you'd like to be personally contacted for Toronto area coffee events that I/WE plan, then PM me your personal email address.

Hey Im new to coffee, new to the forum, and in the GTA I would be very interesting in meeting with other local HBers to talk coffee.
