Which is funny, since I have had shots from that exact machine from way over you bought it. Your Rancilio lever was at that quaint bookshop for many, many years.

^^^ I'll have to try them the next time we're in Key West! Thanks, all, for the feedback.

There's a new roasting business coming to Jupiter. I've added them (Delirio) to the main post toward the bottom. Their most recent Instagram pic is a "now hiring" ad for a head roaster, so I'm expecting a slow build-up...

Speaking of, I had an interesting private message from a lurker a few weeks ago re: the tension between curated and inclusive lists. I obviously lean toward the latter end of the spectrum, posting news as I become aware of it. One risk in doing so is that certain newcomers, some of whom apparently aren't registered with the state, end up being held up to some extent as "legitimate" despite the fact that they aren't held to the same standards concerning cleanliness, etc. Thoughts? We're all adults, but I'm open to suggestions as long as they're not too time-consuming.

Joshua, I thought I'd add my thoughts on Subculture in Delray since I was there over the weekend.

Once the baristas realized I knew about coffee, they brewed me an espresso that was shockingly good! I really didn't expect much given all my previous experiences with the local espresso scene. They brewed their Guji which is an Ethiopian described as "Lots of dried fruit! Tart acidity and sweet finish". It was all that with a very slight bitterness towards the finish. Delightful and worthy of my recommendation. They had to move from their previous location due to some legal battles with the landowner. Their shop is still under minor construction but the bar is open.

^^^ Thanks for the report. I've been to their West Palm location but not to this one. Yes, I'd heard about the dispute in Delray--glad to see it's not holding them back any longer.

Delray is becoming a nightmare with property owners, Ave is being taken over by chains. Now theres news that pry the best restaurant, 32 East, on the ave is going to get booted for another Italian chain, b/c you know we need like 5 italian restaurants all next to each other  . They just opened another one in Boca, and it sucks, and now they want to open that location in the 32 East spot. Whats happening is a lot of chains are coming in with $$$$ or if smaller operations huge financial backing and they'll waaaay over pay on rent just to get the spot and kick out the current business.

Re: Blue Bottle, I went to their Design District location once last month. I find the decor kind of spartan, but service was good, and I couldn't complain about the Chelelektu single-origin espresso I was served (pulled rather long). Blue Bottle has also just opened a second Miami location in Aventura Mall. Of note: La Colombe originally had plans to open in this same mall, but that didn't happen for whatever reason.

Lineage is opening up their new cafe here in Orlando on Saturday. I'll probably pop in and take some pictures for you guys. They are a very well respected roaster here.

^^^ That would be great! Thanks for offering. I've never tried their coffee. Orlando trips for me usually center around visits to parks, and I haven't managed to convince the family (kids included) to join me for a coffee outing there yet.
