I'm from Munich, Germany but my parents live in the Ocala area. I'll be there in early June - are there any chances to get decent espresso in the Ocala region? Orlando seems quite a drive for a cup...

best regards

Hi! Volta in Gainesville would be closer than anything in Orlando. I can vouch for them. Otherwise, based on a quick search online, maybe check out the places below? Please report back if you do! Cheers.

Rich, I have no clue! Let me ask Andy G. and get back to you. Anyone?

^^^ Glad you had a good experience! I wasn't able to round up any recommendations in the Homestead area.

Updated the main post just now. Most of the changes have been in Dade Co. w. a few in Broward. It's getting hard to keep track! Highlights in no particular order:

> Dose magazine is now live! This is a digital magazine/labor of love published by Michelle Hopper, Dan Karram, and Dave Imber that focuses on "uncovering the stories behind coffee [in S. FL] and the people who brew it." Highly recommended.

> Dade: Within the next few months we should have both Blue Bottle and La Colombe opening. Incidentally, Hopper (see above) has left Switchbox and will be a lead barista at Blue Bottle. Brewing Buddha just opened in Pinecrest. I've also added Box Coffee and Brothers and Brawlers as well as new local roasters Strongpull and With.

> Broward: Wells Coffee should be opening their roastery and tasting room by the end of July, and M.A.S. Café is working on a new location (ETA Fall 2018) now that their pop-up has closed.

Please continue to chime in with suggestions, comments, and reviews! I tend to do most of my editorializing on Twitter but will happily respond here instead if anyone has specific questions or needs feedback.

Speaking of reviews, I recently noticed this one on shops in St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Ocala that might interest some of you.

I just had a really good double shot from a Guatemala coffee from Glazed Donuts & Red Buoy Coffee in Key West. And pulled from a Rancilio lever machine nonetheless!!!

I do hope you tried at least one of their donuts. :D . They are quite good. As are their shots.
