notNeutral, the designers of the iconic Intelligentsia cups (with those nice flat tops for your thumb) are opening a retail shop in Pasadena next month briefly had a popup in Old Pasadena. All the coffee cups in our home, except demitasses, are notNeutral. I was especially taken by their new deep-glaze colored cups at the SCAA show in April and took a black one home, which I use for all my drip now.
Nice story in Sprudge today about their design process: http://sprudge.com/inside-world-notneut ... 58504.html.
My notNeutral "Lino" mug: http://www.notneutral.com/coffee/lino/l ... atte-black. The photo does not do justice to the depth of the glaze.

$38 for a mug? Wow, what's wrong with my basic mug with a grumpy cat picture on it?!
The design process is amazing though, is there really a big market for this kind of mug?

Wait - why did I read that they closed their Old Town location then? Are the opening a more permanent one elsewhere?

It's actually $38 for a set of 2 mugs. But yea, quite pricey. I bought some of their cappuccino cups and demitasses, they look and feel great. I spent so much on an espresso machine + grinder, didn't feel like cheaping out on the cups so I wanted to get something cool looking without being gaudy.coffeefanatic1 wrote:$38 for a mug?

Sorry. Didn't notice the Sprudge article was a year old! Still love their cups, which are available online.choupi wrote:Wait - why did I read that they closed their Old Town location then? Are the opening a more permanent one elsewhere?

I really like the design of these, but I really like the pricing of the EPNW porcelain.. Maybe one day I'll buy these, but the Intelly ones are even more expensive so it seems. :/

I agree that it's worth a few extra bucks for a great cup or mug... Peanuts compared to what we spend on equipment.

I have a set of four white NotNeutral mugs for pourovers and vacpots. My wife won't take her coffee in anything else. I think I have created amonster geek.

I've had quite a few drinks in notneutral cups, they are probably my favorite, but I'll stick with nuova point, more $$ for my EK43 fund

They have a shop at 639 N Larchmont (near Melrose), up the street from Go Get Em Tiger.
