Thanks Jim. I know we're still a month out but I thought I would have more responses than what has been posted on this thread.another_jim wrote:I've done a lot of these, and even I go anxious-nuts if I don't get a good head count. Please vote even if all your days are open (it lets yo do that), so that John gets a count of how many will show.

Thanks for voting guys, it helps like Jim says. I was starting to think I needed to change deodorants or something. Any one else who made it to Jims last time or missed the last one feel free to join in. As far as being in Wisconsin its not far at all. Just 2 minutes over the state line. I work in Illinois and commute to Chicago at least once a week. Just 30 minutes from Northbrook and 50 from the loop. I get to work faster than most of my coworkers from Illinois.

Will be fun!

Haven't picked a date yet. I'll probably give it another week to anyone else a chance to vote then I'll pick a day.Barb wrote:So what date did we pick?

I heard from Vlad. the only day he had available is July 15th. this appears to be the only day that everyone has open. I am therefore tentatively scheduling it for that date unless anything changes. Hopefully this helps everyone with there summer plans. hopefully nothing changes, if it does then we'll go from there.

I just posted a Mahlgut MG-1 grinder for sale: [FS] Mahlgut MG-1 Grinder. I can bring it to our get together if someone is interested locally.

To Vlad,
(in Michael Corleone voice Godfather III): "Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in." I will have to keep repeating name of the other goal consumer item to get Mahlgut MG-1 grinder out of my consciousness Also I the ergonomics quirks of my OE Pharos have grown on me.
To John,
You mention pork shoulder and Carolina style. The latter I will assume is BBQ sauce Carolina style with some vinegar? I ask ONLY because I want to get an appropriate wines for everyone and one for you and the Mrs.
Sincerely,
Michael

Yes, I typically make it Carolina style with a vinegar based sauce but do not serve the pork that way. I leave the sauce on the side in case it isn't to everyone's liking. I usually have 3 or 4 sauces to use . By Carolina style I mean The vinegar sauce and coleslaw served on top of the pork in a bun. It may sound a little strange to the uninitiated, but its fantastic if the pork is cooked properly. I'll probably have some brats or BBQ chicken in case pork shoulder isn't their thing.mdmvrockford wrote:

I haven't had that style BBQ in thirty years; I look forward to reacquainting myself. My guide told me when a place serves it on wonder bread, it's going to be really good. Back then, "genuine" was for tourists. That was a long time ago.Prairiedawg wrote:By Carolina style I mean The vinegar sauce and coleslaw served on top of the pork in a bun.
