A lovely little Cafe hidden in the back streets of TangJia. The owner, Bao Cheng, loves coffee. He roasts his own beans for the shop and for sale. The business card in the photos below should help you find the place!

Hi Andrew,
Glad you can find such a nice quiet spot there. I live in Shenzhen and can not find such a place around.
Do you know any good roasters around?

Hi ilker, there are several decent roasters in Hong Kong and one in Macau that I know of. Some of them do online orders and shipping, although I"m not sure if they ship to Shenzhen. You would have to check their websites. To get started I recommend checking out Urban Coffee Roasters from HK and Blooom from Macau. Here are their websites:

Let me know if you want more recommendations and I'll do my best. Those two are my current favorites.

I'm sorry to hear none of the HK roasters will ship to Shenzhen. So close, and yet so far!

Thanks for the tip on Hershey's coffee. I haven't checked them out yet, but will do so soon.

Hey, I've heard good things about Rufous, but I've never been there.

Thanks, Trimethylpurine, for posting this. As more and more Westerners go to China on business or for work or travel, little posts like this can go a long way to help finding decent coffee.

Yes, definitely.

This reminds me of a trip I took to Hebei seven or eight years ago. I was in Shijiazhuang with some friends and we noticed a very fancy looking coffee shop and decided to go in for a cup. The menu was quite extensive with many types of coffee listed. I ordered a "Hawaiian Coffee" and was rewarded with a cup of something hot and black with a huge chunk of pineapple floating in it. I'm not sure it was even coffee, but I am sure that it was undrinkable!

I like to spread the word about my favorite shops so they get enough business to keep open so I can keep going to them!.

Enlightened self interest really.
