Thanks for the info. Its a bit more than the place I've been recently going to (Anderson's coffee - espresso blend is $11/lb) but $14-$16 for 12oz seems pretty typical for a 3rd wave place.

I have tried Fleet Coffee on two separate occasions when in Austin and neither time was I disappointed. Fleet carries Wild Gift, Madcap and Olympia coffees and Lorenzo does a great job at pulling a delicious shot. Additionally, Fleet has some unique drink offerings such as "The Morning Ritual", a donut infused cortado. Whatever your taste, Fleet has an option to satisfy every palate.

+1. It took me a while to make it over the first time, but I quickly went back for more. Great drinks in house. And an excellent whole bean selection.

If you are in Austin for a day and only have time to visit one cafe, I'd go to Fleet.

Hello everyone I am looking for a shop that uses a F10/E10, M7D or a Peak. Those are the grinders on my list to replace my Forte to go with my Profitec Pro 700. Anyone know of one?

A couple months ago Flat Track told me they might get a Peak, but they may still be using all K30 (a twin & a single) grinders at this time. You're better off checking out large profile shops in Dallas or Houston, as I recall even the two newest locations of Local using Mazzers alongside their Stradas and Modbars. I don't quite feel it's fair to research if co pare the grinder in a shop environment though, as the staffs experience / prep / machine will not mirror your own and it would be best to try it first hand at another users home. Good luck!

Thanks Randy. I still have yet to "upgrade my grinder". Thinking of getting a Sette as a second grinder. It would be nice to have a blend and a single origin going at the same time. I with the $2k I save i can buy a new chef knife, few nice wines and then eat at uchi every week for a month.

Been tossing around getting a vitamix for a few years. Wholes Foods has the rep there seeing refurbs a lot for about $265.

FTFY

I may or may not have recommended you consider the Monolith or Mythos for your grinder in another thread - I forget. Oh, and a Vitamix is a must for any kitchen, with the money you save on refurb just go ahead and get a spare shorty container (one is a smaller size, another is just short and wide).

I just set up an E10 on my counter. I suspect it is going to be a week or so before I get a handle on things at the rate we drink over here, but you are welcome to Come by and check it out. We are in Clarksville.

jkool702 wrote:So a related question: where would you all recommend for buying beans in Austin (for making espresso at home)? Previously I had heard good things about Andersons, but was kind of surprised to only see it mentioned once in this entire thread. Cuvee seems to be getting a lot of love though. I live up north so shops in north Austin would be preferred.
I've got to mention Third coast on south congress near st Elmo. Really nice folks, excellent fresh roasted and I can't recommend them enough. Call ahead and they will prepare whatever you need. Good price too. I enjoy the Moka Java blend as it is super smooth.

I hit up Fleet Coffee this weekend and was thoroughly impressed. They had some pretty awesome Sweet Bloom and Wrecking Ball coffee's for shots, which were very tasty.

I really enjoyed the E.T. which was an espresso based drink with tonic water.

Lastly, when then they dialing in a new coffee which I was out...out came the VST Refractometer...yep pretty awesome and serious IMHO.
