I just updated the list to include Ethyl and Tank: right across from the OSU union tucked on a little side road intersecting High Street. I know nothing about the service other than they serve Deeper Roots, have an NS Aurelia, and offer pour overs.

Proprietor formerly of Blue Bottle. Now to see some more activity extend beyond the downtown/SN core.

Hey All,

CBus has been home now 19 years--in the last 5 the coffee scene has really exploded. A couple of adds here:

1. Impero Coffee Roasters (mentioned above) has two locations, details at http://www.imperocoffee.com, offering siphon, pour over, chemex, etc.:

a. in the Short North neighborhood (just north of downtown), 849 N High St, Columbus, OH 43215 (614) 294-2489

b. on the southwest side in Grove City, 3041 Turnberry Ct, Grove City, OH 43123 (614) 539-6808

Disclosure: I've become good friends with the couple who owns & runs the business. They source primarily from RoyalNY and all roasting is done at the Grove City location--fittingly, a former Starbucks location.

2. Upper Cup Coffee Co. http://www.theuppercup.com 79 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43215 (614) 220-0206 in the Old Town East neighborhood. The Upper Cup team also roasts on site.

On the multi-location side, Columbus is also home to two larger SCAA roasting companies:

Cup O Joe/Stauf's http://www.staufs.com with many locations around town--the original location is in the Grandview neighborhood (1277 Grandview Ave, Columbus, OH 43212 614-486-4861), and is a fav spot. They offer a dozen or so fresh roasted whole bean options, lots of gear and usually 3-4 espresso blends/SO offerings at the bar.
[Pro tip: next door is Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams http://www.jenis.com, the apex of the foodie ice cream world. Get a cup of Ndali Estate Vanilla Bean (Uganda Fair Trade vanilla) ice cream, and the Stauf's baristas will gladly pull a shot of espresso over top for the best affogato between Philly and Chicago.]

Crimson Cup http://www.crimsoncup.com has one cafe in the Clintonville neighborhood and is wholesale supplier to many independent coffee shops in several states.

The original post has been updated with DavidG's additions.

Also, Fox in the Snow is now open serving Tandem Coffee out of Portland, ME.

Another recent comer to Italian Village, The Market, offers coffee service with Counter Culture, Deeper Roots, and Thunderkiss.

First post updated to include Dayton's Proto Build Bar. I just learned of it from a post on /r/coffee. If anyone has any more detailed information, please share/review here.

A few updates:

Mission Coffee is now roasting their own in addition to featuring a rotating guest roaster (Deeper Roots has been off their bar for a while). I know they've been working on their roasting operation for a while before its debut (last week) for retail. So far I've only tried their espresso blend, Kodiak. It's pulling very nicely for me at home and revealing a nice range of notes.

Crimson Cup now has a location in Upper Arlington at Lane Avenue and Northwest Blvd. This prominent location was formerly a Peet's and a Carribou Coffee before that. I believe they opening last month but haven't had a chance to visit it yet.

Finally, I neglected to update the first post with a few other openings in a timely fashion: Toast Bar in Grandview Heights and Roosevelt Coffee downtown. Toast Bar is serving Black Cat Analog and has retail bags of the same and Brioso. Roosevelt has Stumptown and OneLine on their bar.

I don't know as far as central location, but we came across this place on our road trip last summer looking for some morning coffee. http://cluxtonalleyroasters.com, Northside area of Cincinnati.

Not a full blown shop but pretty cool and good coffee. If I remember the coffee was free, or at least drip was. She had retired and was bored so bought a roaster and got into coffee, does it more as a hobby. She was really nice to chat with, and locals were coming by and hanging out, everyone knew her. Think she said she was looking into an espresso setup but not sure. Bought some of her beans as a thank you, and brewed them when we got to MI, was good coffee.

She had various greens around, including bags from Sweet Marias. She didn't even know about yelp or reviews online, showed her yelp which is how I found her and seeing all the good comments made her day.
