I think it is a great thing (I've already gushed a bit online) and proof, if needed, that Gwilym is a great ambassador for coffee. The cafes on the list already share a camaraderie and community that I think really sets the London scene apart right now. If you visited any of them on the card last month you'd likely have been recommended to others anyway - but I think the Disloyalty card crystalises it wonderfully.

Hopefully the press pick up on it and it spreads far and wide.

Boy, that would be great in my area....if we actually had that many decent cafes.

What a cool idea! Of course where I live it would have to be a pretty small card.

There is also:

From their website: "Delocator.net launched in 2005 so users could locate independently owned coffee shops. The Delocator is the opposite of an online retail store locator, common to corporate store websites...."

This makes me sad that there isn't a single good cafe in my town.
There is 15 starbucks, 11 scooters, 4 crane coffees, and my roaster, who has a La Cimbali Junior, and we love to make drinks.

I *really* want to just be able to buy a good macchiato or latte for once.

5 Starbucks, 4 Second Cups, 2 Coffee Cultures, and 48 Tim Hortons locations in Kitchener-Waterloo. There is apparently one cafe downtown that serves drinkable espresso, but it's a vegan place that uses coffee from a huge roaster that doesn't roast date. Doesn't seem to be much point in visiting.

When I was in Germany recently, the owner of Godshot Cafe was so excited to "talk coffee" he sent me to all of the cafes he thought were great.

That kind of community spirit is refreshing.
