Before posting to the Buy/Sell forum, please review the rules below. By accessing this forum, you agree to these rules in addition to the site's Terms of use. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not access the Buy/Sell forum.

HOW CAN I POST AN AD?

To register as a buyer or seller, click here to confirm your agreement with the buy/sell forum rules. Then read the options for qualifying for "free" seller access or "supporter" seller access below.

The Buy/Sell forum has posting limitations:
  • Any Member - Need to contact a seller? Easy, just send them a personal message ("PM").
  • Buyer / Seller - To create a [FS], [FT], or [WTB] post, registration is required.
Those who wish to post an ad have two options:
  • For the "free" Buy/Sell posting rights, you must have more than 90 days membership and a minimum of 12 qualified posts in the last year (†), or
  • Bypass the posting restrictions by becoming an HB supporter! To contribute, click here. ♡
To check your status, click here. Please note that once you've posted your ad, a moderator must approve it before it's shown (††).

IMPORTANT SELLER REMINDERS
  1. If your ad appears elsewhere (e.g., eBay, Reddit, Facebook), please don't duplicate or link it here. Moderators reserve the right to delete such listings.
  2. Sales are only for used equipment that is in-hand (i.e., no NIB or pre-order sales permitted).
  3. This forum is for private sales only for supporters or members with an established site history; by starting a [FS] or [FT] thread, you confirm that you are not in the business of selling espresso machines, coffee or equipment, even on a casual basis.
  4. Sales of office equipment, cafe equipment, multi-group espresso machines, bulk sales, or inventory from a past business venture are not allowed. If you are a small business owner and wish to advertise on Home-Barista.com, please contact me offline for details.
  5. Please price your sale competitively so your item finds a new home quickly; this benefits buyers and sellers alike. Profiting from scarcity is not allowed. Moderators reserve the right to delete listings priced above retail or with more than 3 "reduced price" updates.
  6. Sellers cannot require that buyers pay extra for purchase protection. Ads with "net to me", "Friends and Family", or similar verbiage will be rejected.
As your site history lengthens, your Buy/Sell status is automatically updated. To check your status, click here.

IMPORTANT BUYER REMINDERS
  1. Be aware that payment services like Venmo and Zelle are for "friends" and therefore offer no protection against non-delivery. Unless you are buying from a highly trusted source, insist on a payment service with buyer protection. Per the Buy/Sell forum's "no surcharges" policy, the seller cannot require that you pay extra for buyer protection. Sellers: Ads with "net to me", "Friends and Family", or similar verbiage will be rejected.
  2. For high value items, it's prudent to ask for proof of possession, such as a dated photo with the item in question next to a handwritten card with the seller's address and your name/shipping address on it. Alternatively, ask the seller to contact you via text, voice, or zoom. If the seller refuses to provide reasonable proof of ownership or insists on payment without buyer protections, walk away.
  3. If you're posting a WTB ad, be cautious of PMs suggesting that you reach out to "someone they know" via a provided email; it may be an attempt to trick you into buying from someone in a foreign country who is masquerading as a local seller.
ADDITIONAL RULES
  1. If you are a Seller, you must include your real name and location in your site profile.
  2. The thread's subject must include a "transaction type" prefix: [WTB] = want to buy, [FS] = for sale, [FT] = for trade, [FREE] = giveaway, [AD] = advertisement.
  3. For sale [FS] and for trade [FT] posts must include a photo of the actual item (not a stock photo) and a price; see Posting images on HB for step-by-step instructions.
  4. Please price your sale competitively so your item finds a new home quickly; this benefits buyers and sellers alike. See How to price used espresso equipment for helpful suggestions. Moderators reserve the right to delete listings priced above retail or with more than 3 "reduced price" updates.
  5. If your item doesn't sell after 30 days, moderators reserve the right to remove your listing and bar it from being listed again.
  6. Save yourself headaches; read Packing espresso equipment for shipment.
  7. When an item is sold, press the "Mark Sold" button; in the case of a want to buy thread, use the "Mark Found" button. For historical purposes, please do not edit/delete the item description, images, etc. Threads whose status or price is not updated for 30 days will automatically be marked as sold/found.
  8. To keep background back-and-forth posts to a minimum, please use PMs to communicate with the seller/buyer. Similarly, please no "PM sent" or "bump" or "sold" replies or "sale pending" notices. Replies pointing out a price update are permitted.
  9. Want-to-buy threads that are not updated as [FOUND] after 30 days may be deleted.
  10. Please respect the site's no cross-posting policy by NOT reposting ads here you have posted elsewhere. Moderators reserve the right to delete cross-posts.
  11. As a matter of policy, moderators will not become involved in any disputes between sellers and buyers. However, please note that your participation in the forum is a privilege, not a right, and that your privileges may be revoked and/or suspended if other members lodge legitimate complaints about you.
  12. PayPal's User Agreement stipulates "You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting PayPal as a payment method. You may charge a handling fee in connection with the sale of goods or services as long as the handling fee does not operate as a surcharge and is not higher than the handling fee you charge for non-PayPal transactions." See PayPal's Purchase Protection Program for additional details. For Sale posts stating the buyer must pay the PayPal fees (e.g., "net to me") or must use "Friends and Family" payment will be rejected.
  13. Per the site's Terms of use, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Home-Barista.com, its moderators, employees, and agents from and against all claims and expenses, including attorneys' fees, arising out of the use of Home-Barista.com. If you do not agree to all of the aforementioned terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this forum.
______

(†) To keep "noise" down in the Buy/Sell forum, participation is limited to members who have a history with the site and contributors. Were this not the case, experience has proven that many first-time visitors post one [WTB] thread and are never heard from again. That's not the sort of membership we want to encourage. Therefore, to encourage a more engaged membership and to discourage members from attempting to inflate their post count to qualify as a "free" seller in the Buy/Sell forum, the post counts are qualified by only counting a maximum of 2 posts per day and excluding all trivial posts, totaling no more than 4 posts in a given week and 6 posts in a given month.

(††) Members with more than 180 days membership and a minimum of 30 qualified (*) posts in the last 2 years in the non-Buy/Sell forums and 15 completed sale threads in the Buy/Sell forum can post without moderator approval.
