Yeah good luck. You'll never be 100% sure with Amazon. I would try Prima - they guarantee which version you'll receive.jesse wrote:I'm running out..
Can anyone link me to recently verified legit VCF-01 or VCF-02 filters on Amazon?

I've been wondering but never investigated. that has been my experience.... longer draw downs, especially towards the end of extraction. still trying to burn through the 200 i boughtgophish wrote: but there were still a few reviews that commented on the different paper and longer draw downs.

The link I provided earlier are for legit v60 filters. The beauty of Amazon is also that when something is not as described, you can return it free of charge.jesse wrote:I'm running out..

But which seller? When I follow your link, it's the "JAPANESE cool items store" listing. I've not encountered the tabbed version yet, personally. My last order was in March, and the seller was Amazon, so I guess I'll go with them.

So as it turns out, I've been using the non-Hario natural filters with the darker tan color and tabs. I just received 800 from Amazon, but returned them after ordering 1000 from Prima. It will be interesting to see the difference. I never used the real Hario filters, so I might have to recalibrate my grinder.

My V60-02 recipe (I prefer Full City/FC+ coffees) is basically Perger's from his video:
25g coffee R-220 grind setting 1.5 - 2 (usually 1.5)
200F water, 30s bloom 50 - 75gm water with vigorous stirring
Remainder of water to 375 - 400gm in one long pour about 1cm from outer edge, circular swirling motion in ~45s (stop pouring @ ~1:15)
Lift and drop to settle a la Perger (tap-dat)
Extraction is done ~2:10 - 2:20
In my hands, the non-Harios require an R-220 grind setting of ~3 or so to finish in ~3:00. I don't get as much sweetness and balance out of my brews with those coarser grinds extracted for longer than with Perger's approach.

I too have annoying filters from Hario, they become really slow after a 2 or 3 pours and then take forever to drip. I bought 2 packs, 1 in Tokyo in January this year and 1 recently from a Japanese Dept. store in HK.
Both white VCF-02-100w-JW
Even my 8 year old daughter noticed yesterday and asked if I had messed up the grind

The ones with J in the model name seem to be the problematic ones.
Paul, check if you can find a branch of Life Kan near you. They have the good filters. There's one in the mall near my home in Yuen Long, and I think there are other branches scattered around Hong Kong.

I received my Prima Coffee natural filters. Definitely lighter in color as well as much different in texture and thickness. 100ct of the fakes are about 1-1/8" thick, the real ones are almost 2". I'll be using them this weekend at the market and will report back. I've never used the real ones before. I will miss the little opening tab though. That's a nice feature.
