$250 for convenience... it should kiss me in the morning when I wake up and tell me how nice my butt looks!

I could not find a street price as it is quite new. If its performance matches the price point (even assuming 50% of MSP) it would be interesting. It would have been nice if the temperature would have been adjustable... PID, anyone?

But lime green? Do we really need to go back to 1959?

Well, there are 4 different colors to choose from. As far as price goes I think they've done their homework. They're appealing to a particular crowd of enthusiasts who are willing to pay stupid amounts of money for equipment to brew coffee. What a silly bunch they must be!

$250 is about $50 cheaper than a Technivorm, which does essentially the same thing. I like that they give you some choice of fun colors, too. Seems like a promising device, especially if it delivers proper brew temps and a nice, even flow of water over the coffee.

Too bad they're advertising a whirly blade grinder as a recommended accessory to the brewer though. Even a cheapish burr grinder would be a much better choice.

I don't know, I would never pay $250 for something that just makes coffee

Certainly not..! A glance at your profile would have one expecting you to pay double that just for a tamper!

There's also the Bonavita now.

No it doesn't.
With the Technivorm, you can give the basket a stir and you can decide when to open the stopper valve. I get best results by letting the basket fill up, stirring and then opening the valve. Adjusting grind to let the outflow of coffee match the flowrate of the Technivorm in the basket. This is impossible with the Bodum.

If that's a quality machine and has good reliability (unlike some of the other cheaper-than-technivorm options) that could be a real winner.
