Hand Grinder Choice: Orphan Espresso PFP vs. Porlex vs. Kyocera CM-45 - Page 2

I found it almost impossible to texture milk well with the Bellman, especially maintaining a whirlpool, something I attributed to the large hole on the steam tip. Unfortunately, the steam tip is part of the wand and not removable.

I was beating myself up about my poor skills until I started steaming on my Gaggia Factory with a drilled out acorn nut as a steam tip, it was so much easier to texture milk and microfoam that I think the Bellman is pretty tough to use, though I have read of those who have learned to use it well.

As I mentioned before, I use the Kyocera CM-45 CF for espresso with the Twist and I think it pairs well, but the Porlex wasn't available when I picked it up so if I had it to do over again I might consider buying the Porlex.

I really should try my Hario slim to see how well it compares to the Kyocera for espresso some day, since it is more available and available at a lower price, but I like the smaller sized Kyocera CM-450 CF or Porlex for travel.

any chance you could put a calipers on the bellman wand? I wonder how easy it would be to tap it for either an acorn nut or a stock steam tip

I thought I remember reading the porlex (slim metalic looking one) and kyocera CM45 are very similar. I got the kyrocera since it's easier to adjust the grind size supposedly. It seems to work nicely.

Adjusting the grind size on the Porlex and Kyocera are identical.

I thought on the Porlex one, the screw was just harder to get to, need to disemble it more? Maybe I confused it with a different model/brand if that's not the case.

No, the pieces and method of adjustment are identical. Incidentally, my Porlex holds the outer burr more securely than my Kyocera.
