I gave up on trying to get decent coffee from an espresso grinder. I have tried quite a few grinders and never gotten decent results. In the end, I picked up a bulk grinder for non espresso preparation and have been happy ever sense. You may want to look at Why do bulk grinders produce a superior grind for non espresso preparation? as well.

I have to admit that cupping has gotten a lot more boring since I switched to the Bunn -- no more dramatic changes from day to day. I cannot say the Bunn is better; at least until I can figure out a good way to equate grind settings; but I can say that it has been a lot more consistent than using espresso or home grinders.
