Thank you Henry for the wrap up... I was not as confused as I thought.

If I may ask, what is the diameter of the burr set on the R-220?

I had my wife ring up the distributor in Taiwan for a price on the Fuji R220, which she said was 14,500 nt. The price on the Feima 600n was 2300 nt. Last time I asked the exchange rate was 29nt/1usd.

Alex: I tried to get an estimate on shipping from the Taiwan PO (online), and came up with 1950 nt air, and 580 surface post. It would be a good idea to double check the postage and US customs declaration would be required. Now getting a Taiwan business to ship a grinder to the US is good question. Yang-Chia (Feima) has an agent in Taipei, BellaTaiwan who carried their products. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info. Maybe getting a Feima from Taiwan makes more sense since it's made in Taiwan where the Fuji is from Japan. Let me give them a call and see if we can get some as sample which might get away from the customs declaration. :mrgreen:

Got in contact with the manufacture for Feima, http://www.feima.com.tw/windos_02/600n.htm. The price for the grinder is pretty good, $80 but the grinder is pretty heavy ~8lbs. Shipping is expensive, if we can order 6 grinders the shipping is going to be $55 each to 1 US address. Even with shipping it's still a pretty good price. But this grinder does not grind fine enough for pump driven espresso machine. At most it can do Moka Pot. Anyone interesting in trying this grinder? :mrgreen:

Are there any updates as to where we can buy any of these grinders in the USA? OE and avenue 18 have similar models, but all have cutting type burrs instead of the ghost teeth.

Bump for update. I have found the flying eagle at Ave 18 in Can. It's selling for 325 cad. It comes with cutting burrs, but it seems like so many siphon bars carry that type of grinder. Anyone have any info, or is this thread dead?

I've got a big "flying eagle" cm-520 with the crushing or "ghost" burrs for a few months. Way too big, and messy for a normal kitchen. The small cm-300 is what I think you're looking for and my cm-520 came direct from the factory to my wife's condo in Taipei. I'll try to find out if there are replacement "ghost" burrs for the Tiamo or Feima 600n. I've got one of the OE Tiamo grinders in the kitchen and the grind looks a bit inconsistent, just like Doug commented in his review. The Fuji Royal R-220 sells for three times the price of a similar Taiwan grinder, are there other differences besides the burrs?

At the time around January 2011, I paid JPY31800 plus JPY5960 for shipping to the US, about USD$460 total, for the Fuji Royal R-220.

It is not difficult to order from Amazon.co.jp, from the link previously provided, and use a forwarding service. It is actually quite an exotic shopping experience to order from foreign Amazon or other web site.

For the price, I think there are more reasonably priced alternatives in the US locally. The Bunn, especially used, can be had for about USD$200 from craigslist, or more commonly, at various used restaurant equipment dealers. What the Fuji Royal R-220 offers is smaller size and easy adjustability compared with Bunn or Mahlkonig.

I currently use a stainless steel straight pitcher to catch the grind to avoid static.

If there is anyone in the San Francisco bay area with a Bunn or Mahlkonig and Ro-Tap or Tyler sieves, let's meet up to compare the particle sizes.
