That was my impression too. If they keep on increasing the price it will get close to an Able Kone.

Scraping the steam wand idea, I put the Driver in a 4 cup Porlex measuring cup, 1/2 tablespoon of Joe-Glo and filled it with a kettle of boiling water. Went and watched TV for about an hour and came back, rinsed it out and holding it up to the light, it looks pristinely clean.

After 2-3 weeks of daily use, even with cleaning and wiping down immediately after brewing, if I held it up to a strong light, I could see the very, very fine powdery residue trapped between the two metal internal surfaces. It looks brand new again.

Henry, did you try using it with the Clever?

Ed, it is doable with the Clever. It takes only about 30 seconds to drain, much faster than typical paper filter. The fit is slightly smaller for the larger Clever, but the rim makes it possible to sit atop straight.

I wonder if that necessitates more stirring. In my experience a faster draining often causes channeling, which could result in poorer extraction if you didn't address this pre-draining with more stirring or something.
