Good suggestions (thanks). I do insert at an angle, but re: the rest it *had* been a while since I broke out of my inverted rut with the Aeropress. I'll tighten up the grind, do a mini-bloom, and see how it goes this afternoon.

^^^ Ok, non-inverted success. Ground more finely at 1 turn CCW from zero using the LIDO, a setting which has worked well for me recently with the Beehouse (pourover). Did a little 20-sec. bloom before adding the rest of the water (no stir) and inserting the plunger. As a result, drip-through was less than half what I experienced previously. I still need to tweak my brew parameters a little, but this cup was in the ballpark. And the amount of fines I got in my mug was even more negligible than what I depicted earlier. Very impressed with the DISK Fine right now.
Some of you Prima people should be receiving your own DISKs as early as today, I think. Looking forward to opening up the conversation!

I am enjoying the Disc Fine experience vicariously through your efforts.

Can't wait to try mine. I may switch to standard method if the Fine. We'll see.

Just got mine in today and am having my first cup with it as I type. Impressed so far but will really have to give it some time and proper evaluation over the next week or two.

Same here! It's crazy thin compared to the old one.
And my girlfriend discovered that if you lay the Fine and the original together over a bright light source, and turn one you make a cool light show.
I roasted a bunch of samples yesterday so I just spent my free time cupping today. I'm going to pick up a 2nd Aeropress so I can do some side by side and blind comparisons.

Got my Disk last night and got a chance to try it out with some 12 day rested Rwanda COE #29 today using Brandon Weaver's 2012 NW Regional AP Champ recipe.
The coffee was spectacular, sweet hibiscus and citrus, and very little to no fines left in the cup.
It may be cheating to say that I used the OE Lido cupping grinder set to 0.75 for the grind, which probably helped quite a bit.

I am sipping from my third cup brewed con el Disco Fino. All I have on hand roasted currently is my home espresso roast. I stopped using the paper filters (and the Aeropress) quite a while ago, but this disk is a definite improvement in the flavor and body of the coffee. Am going to have to try to roast a S.O. or two and A/B some cups using paper vs. Able Disc, and Able Disc vs. Espro.
