Coffee preparation techniques besides espresso like pourover.

Was perusing EspressoSupply (as Espressoparts is sold out of Flow Restrictors) when i noticed they carry a 1.7L Gooseneck PID Kettle. I hadn't heard from Bonavita that they put out a 1.7L, and when i first recall getting the 1L PID Kettle, there wasn't even an option for 1.7L outside of the widespout. Anyone know when they introduced it? Anyone used it?

I sometimes make a larger Chemex for the crowd and like the thought of not needing to refill my kettle midway through.

I didn't know that this existed -- thanks for pointing it out!! Seems like just the thing for big Chemex and espro batches.

Bonavita announced this was coming via Twitter a while back. I took note but ended up snagging the non-gooseneck variable-temp. version of this big boy on Amazon for ~$30 (the price is low again today, I see). I'm enjoying the extra capacity.

wonder if it uses the same base as the smaller volume one...I have 2 of those and would love to get just the larger kettles to replace them...Doubt if they're interchangeable though.

Bonavita confirmed that the bases are interchangeable on the variable-temp. kettles (see here).

Any idea where to buy a replacement kettle w/o the base?

The reply that I received :(

Hi Johnny,

Thank you for your email and interest in Bonavita kettles. At this time, we are not offering the kettles and bases separately. We do not have any plans to do this in the near future, but I will pass this on as a suggestion for future planning.

Sincerely,
