Mark- thanks for the heads up on that machine. And if I weren't using a bit of the equity coming out of my house sale to buy a new machine, I would definitely snatch that one up. But I am viewing this time as my chance to get a new and great machine for the next 10 years! So still looking toward new. I am still leaning toward the Bezzera bz07, but will make my final decision once the house sells. I would still love others input on new machines in the 1000 to 1500 price range. I will be getting a vario to pair with whatever machine (unless I find a great used commercial machine on Craigslist between now and then).
