Which one is better, Ditting 804 or Mahlkonig Tanzania ?

Postby weitmeer on Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:03 pm

I need some advice about a grinder for FP and Chemex. I know there is ditting 805, but I am considering
KR804 or Tanzania. This grinder will be used just at home.

Thanks for you help in advance.

The Mahlkonig Tanzania is the same as Ditting KR805.

Have you read this thread?

Ditting has a direct comparison page here. Same size grinding discs (80mm) but the 805 (Tanzania) has a more powerful motor .89kw vs .65kw, and output is 1.75 lb/min for the KR805, and 1.0 lb/min for the KR804. I would look more at the cost difference between the 2 as the grind quality will be equal, as long as you aren't in a production environment the speed should not matter.

The burrs are the same size & look to have the same cutting pattern but the 804 burrs mount with screws & the 805 with magnets so no holes. Surprising to see that the 805 is 20lbs lighter then an 804! Using the 804 burrs my G3 (9A motor) will turn out 2lbs a minute at the drip setting.

I have read various information about 2 grinders. They said two are actually the same. There are
some slightly different traits, I think , though. Such as burrs and a motor, etc..

Here I could not get an 805. So I just have a choice of 804 or Tanzania. That's another problem..

Thanks a lot for everyone's advice !!!

Hi weitmeer, just to be clear that you know, the 805 & the Tanzania are the same grinder.
