Whats the value of a elektra sixties D3 in very good condition?

Postby Sinzer on Fri Dec 23, 2011 12:18 pm

I'm changing my machine (was on Ms Silvia) and I've been juggling with a few options.

I'm tempted to go with an Elektra sixties (D3) 3 years old. that wasn't used much (related to the seller). Even though I don't really need the 2 groups, since the price seems really good, i'm tempted to say 'why not' and go a head.

i was considering to go for a dual boiler (Alex II), but after reading (once again) the amazing article about the T1 on HB , even though the D3 is semi-auto, I'm thrilled (i guess i would be with any new machine).

i'm trying to confirm with any info available, what could be an amazing deal or good deal on this D3 (talking about price range). There is not much sites selling the D3 anymore and even less selling used. Any input would be appreciated.

thanks a lot,

have a nice Xmas and a happy new year.

I rarely go more than 65% of new unless it is something I really want or i know the history and condition of the item.

NOT an OFFER
I'm having a hard time selling my Astoria. I've lowered the price by more than ½ (of my original used price) and it is on its third and last EBay routine. My problem is, I believe, that I can not ship it but there must be many home baristas in the S.F. bay area who could pick it up. Do large used machines sell? I see the same ones over and over on EBay at least they seam to be the same ones: I've followed a few that were just out of curiosity. I have one offer to take it as a donation.

Finally sold the Astoria. After listing it three times on EBay, thirty days. reduced the price from $1200 to $500 it sold in the last 10 minutes at the minimum price. I think it was worth more but I am glad to get it out of here.

A single group auto, branded by Mr. Espresso in Oakland Ca. so I'm not quite sure of the model. Bought new in '97 and only used at home so not many "miles" on it. See page 135 of "Post a Picture of your Home Setup" thread.

Ah, so that was YOURS that caught my eye on eBay :D
(it was on the other side of the country, and I've already GOT machines...not in the market, just browse occasionally for the rare deal/awesome machine)

Not rare by any means, just a steal due to the low miles. I have lots of "things" around the house/shop that don't get much use but the Astoria is large and heavy and will never get any use, unlike some tools which get used once in a while. I hope it goes on to a productive life somewhere.

Greg, good luck! There are three machines I've love to have, if I ever went for a 2-group, and the Elektra "Sixties" is definitely one! As you know, I love my T1, and I'm sure -- if you make the purchase -- you'll feel the same way about the D3.
