It depends on where you keep your machine and how you use it. Some constantly use the wand for warming cups and rinsing portafilters.

My machine is in a separate bar, next to a bar sink, where all the espresso washing is done. We have a Zojirushi hot water dispenser in the kitchen for my wife's tea. We rarely use the wand on our espresso machine and wouldn't miss it, if it didn't have one.

A PID on an e61 group DB is only as precise as the environment is invariant. Eric's adapter is a necessity on an e61 if precise brew temperature is required.
