Upgrade from Silvia to Expobar - Questions.

Recommendations for first time espresso equipment buyers and upgraders.

I'm thinking of giving my old well used Silvia to my daughter (she'll be very happy) to justify... purchasing a new Expobar Brewtus III or Office Control machine, all this to make about two double espressos a day.

My questions:

I never make Cappuccino. Any advantage in having the Brewtus III over the Office Control machine?

If I get the Brewtus, what are advantages/disadvantages in having Rotary vs Vibration pumps?

Does a Watts Premier Home Reverse Osmosis system (it has a water reserve tank) have enough pressure to feed a Rotary pump?

Are there better choices in this price range?

Thanks.

Pierre

In that case, there are less expensive options like the Quickmill Alexia with PID.

Yeah what he said.

As soon as I read the part about nothing but straight shots the first machine I thought of was the Alexia. I would not sweat the PID too much to start with if budget is a concern. I assume budget is not a concern if you are considering a B3 but the Office Control part made me throw in the caveat.

The Quickmill Alexia is about the same price as the Expobar Office Control.

Is it better?

The question is not which is better, but which is better for you.

I recommend that you read some of the reviews (they include one for the Alexia) and Espresso 101. Mark's How to buy an espresso machine covers other factors you may want to consider. With this homework behind you, it will be much easier to make an informed decision.
