Tamper seats or holders?

Postby lolgun on Tue Aug 10, 2010 1:33 am

I'm wondering if there are any other kind of Tamper seats or holders other than that one? I know that Cafelat makes a version that you can screw in the wall, but I was looking for a seat that was round and deep (about the same height as the tamper base itself) similar to the Espresso Puck that EP sells, just without the puck.

I recently purchased 2 RB tampers and a nice Dave handle to match my knobs and PF on my machine and would like to protect them more than just sitting on the counter next to the espresso machine.

I keep my tamper on a shelf above the machine, which was making a big mess. I always wanted a rubber tamper seat, but couldn't find one in Canada. I finally had an opportunity to order this one from Chris' Coffee with some other bits and pieces. I wish I'd got it sooner. No mess at all now, and it looks pretty nice, too.

I've seen the Cafelat wall hanger, but I prefer just having the tamper standing up on the shelf.

Chris - thanks for that post, I thought I had seen a round one earlier before. Your reasons are matching mine, less mess, don't want to screw it in the wall, and want to protect the tamper itself.

Any other tamper holders out there?

Before Cafelat, there was Bumper! Look here . . .

(Problem: you are in Sweden; the retailer in in New York. Sorry.)

Cheers,

The bumper tamper puck will return - with a new design as part of Cafelat. We just started the tooling of the new mold.

It's amazing how many "similar" products to that little bumper mat there are these days, and the tamp stand, mats, knockboxes etc....

Hopefully we will have samples this month if the mold making goes well. They often need refinement though. Custom cups take around a year to get right.

So if all goes well ready in around 2 months.

Thread Drift Warning . . . unsolicited testimonial ahead!

Paul, all I can say is, "And I thought the Bumper products were great . . . " The Cafelat knockbox, tamper stand, corner mat are all as close to perfect as I can possibly imagine. A joy to use, and all are things that make my routine just that much easier.

Thanks,
Jason
