I"m certainly no clean freak but I've yet to have a mold problem in my drawer knockboxes. I empty the knockbox into a plastic bucket under the sink every couple days & that bucket only gets dumped every 7-10 days. No obvious mold in there either. This time of year the woodstove keeps the air pretty dry in my house despite the best efforts of our humidifier. I'm sure I'll have to dump the bucket more often come spring & summer.

Ah yes, life in the South. One of my favorite summertime activities in Tennessee: sitting out in the backyard and dripping.

Not trying to pile it on but... I've never had a mold problem in my Bumper either. Maybe it's due to the dry climate, although I keep my house humidified. I empty the knockbox when it's full, roughly every week. A quick spritz with bleach cleanser seems to keep any mold at bay.

Just to follow up on this after 10 months of continuous use there are no signs of mildew or mold in/on the wooden drawer or on the wood surfaces surrounding it.
