I was inspired but having two machines and couple thousand in 2 machines that would need to work on would be scary. Don't get me wrong, I agree it would be thrilling. But did I mention, never fixed any espresso machine b/4 my pavoni.
Plus, I really only had about a grand for the San Marco so the addt'l $$ would have been scary too. Parts usually end up being more than you would expect on fixers. At least that's what I found when rehabing my 1924 house.
All that being said, if I had the $$ to buy new, I think I'd rather have a classic.
