Can you be more specific? For example, budget constraints and how many drinks per session?

My personal favorite for best microfoam is Elektra, specifically the Microcasa a Leva and Semiautomatica, or if you've got ample funds and want speed, the Elektra A3. However, none of these are frequently recommended as a beginner's choices.

Some price steps down, the Solis SL-70 ($500) is by far the best single boiler latte art machine, and on the price/performance envelope for espresso taste. Low end HX machines, at around 1K, are all pretty good (sometimes with custom steam tips), with the Bezzeras being standouts, but a little on the fast side for beginners.
