Questions about used La Cimbali Jr D/1

Postby stewarttate on Mon Jun 27, 2011 1:25 am

I found a used La Cimbali Jr D/1 in what appears to be good condition.
The label on the machine does not list a manufactures date which I've not seen before, only the following:

LA CIMBALI
TYPE: JUNIOR D/1 BA105II9F999A
TENS. 120V~ 60HZ 1.35kW
CALDAIA: capacit 2.5l pressione 1,8 bar
NF. 403727

I'm trying to find out if this unit has a rotary pump, what junior features and approx. age.
As I understand it, rotary pumps were added after March of 2000.
I've seen units with higher NF. numbers that are labeled with a mfg date before March 2000.
Does anyone know if the serial# is coded somehow with features and mfg date?
Has anyone seen a Junior label without a mfg date?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello:

I also have a Cimbali Junior D/1. =^)
Very happy with it.

It's 240v/1800W/50hz., plumb-in/out, has a dosing device and sight-glass with both autofill and vibe pump. No electronics save the Gicar, the rest is rotary switch (2) or push button (1) stuff.

Here's a photo of my D/1's label, on top of the Gicar splash guard under the drip tray:

As you can see, mine is 2000 vintage with manufacturing number 485997.
Thanks to your information, now I know that BA105IILM99EA indicates 'type'.

Both units seem to have a common base: BA105II
The differences in the type numbers would be:
My D/1: LM99EA
Your D/1: 9F999A

I'd think that at least two or three of these last six numbers would indicate the voltage and frecuency difference between our D/1s.

A vibe pump has very little consumption, not worth mentioning.
But if your D/1 had a rotary, I think it would be indicated with a double wattage indication. ie: 1300W/1600W <-- element only / element + pump.

Like it is in this other label I found on the web belonging to a 1999 model:

It's hard to read, but it would seem that it has the same base number (BA105II) as our Cimbalis.
The rest of the number, 92999A, is similar to yours (999A).

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

CIV

Civ,
Thank you so much for this information! This is the greatest coffee forum on the net because of the people.

With a few more labels from others, I'm sure everyone would have a good idea of the coding used.
I'm guessing this must have been done before or one of the service techs knows the exact coding.

The junior is so well built even an older unit that received some care looks amazing for a machine that must be at least 12+ years old based on your information. :D

+1.

I think one of the HB members is linked to La Cimbali, maybe he'll chip in with the Cimbali Junior label and model information.

Cheers,
