Olympia Cremina 67 used prices- what's the going rate?

Postby mankini on Mon Dec 13, 2010 10:46 am

Hello...
For the cremina 67 old skool models such as pre-1980's... I cant find sellers of reconditioned ones anywhere, whether it be in Europe or the US... so I cant seem to find a benchmark price for a really well looked after used one... Orphan Espresso do not currently have any listed... Could folks please advise what realistic prices are for such machines... maybe pre 1980 and also for up to mid 1980s... Hoe much have they been sold for on Orphan Espresso? Not seeking the cheapest one but there is always a large variation on ebay so its hard to tell. Thanks

There was one recently on coffeegeek.com, IIRC it was for $950 or so; this particular one was interesting in that it was mod'd to have a pressure gauge and came with penney naked PF. Check and it may still be there.

Since I lust for one (don't need one but want one :D ) I've been keeping an eye every now and then for prices. From my experience, if and when one comes up on eBay (USA) it goes for anywhere from $5xx to $11xx. The last few sold in the range of $810-$1037, with the one for $1037 coming with an Isomac Grinder. In some cases, I've seen $1100-$1200.

Obviously, the prices vary based on condition and on whether parts are missing - usually portafilter, drip tray and grate are missing for the lower priced ones.

On eBay you can find them for $500 - $1300. I've seen good deals and people get burned, so I felt it was really rolling the dice. I ended up buying one from OE that was fully refurbished, and to say it looked new is an understatement. This thing looked and performed like a new machine (and is still working flawlessly 10 months later). Perhaps I could have gotten a better "deal" on eBay, but if I had to do it all over again I'd still get one from OE.

When Doug and Barb do list one it usually goes within a day, so check there regularly. When one does show up, expect to pay in the neighborhood of $1250, but know that you are getting a pristinely restored piece that will need nothing more than the boiler to be filled prior to use.
