By the way, is that a test unit you were using? Or is that your own? Just wondering how does it compare to your GS/3MPS.
It is a demo unit, and I even used the portafilter from my GS/3 to keep all accessories as good as new. But I will keep it in my kitchen for a while and run side by side tests with the GS/3 as I find it really interesting and special to to have such a small dual boiler with PID. A bit too early to compare, as I just got it today.

Thanks so much for the information, Alex. You answered everything I asked for and then some! I think I'm slowly starting to lean away from the BDB.

Yep, the Macap was the 75mm burr MXD, and the Compak was the 68mm conical E10. I'm eagerly waiting to hear when our shipment of Pro 300s can get here! If anyone else has questions about these machines, let me know too.

"Preorder" pricing in Canada is $1995 (currently around $1500 usd) http://www.idrinkcoffee.com/Profitec_Pr ... 00-b23.htm, and most things are cheaper or similar price in Canada if you want to speculate.

I visited idrinkcoffee today. I'm lucky enough to live close by. I spoke with the owner and he confirmed they worked with Profitec to install different heating elements for 110v use. They draw less power and, thus, will take longer to heat up than the European version. I should've asked more questions. But I was chatting about everything, since I was surrounded by fine equipment such as the Linea Mini, Vesuvius, GS/3, Synesso Cyncra, Strega etc.. And I had all kinds of questions popping in my head.

Just FYI, the Pro 300 is now for sale at Clive Coffee - http://www.clivecoffee.com/product/prof ... chine.html and is actually part of their holiday sale! Also, I'm only going to post in the Pro 300 User Experience thread from now on.

I'm interested in this machine or a Profitec Pro 500...Do you have any other machines to compare this to in terms of pump volume? The Pro 500's is super quiet from videos I've seen, and I am not sure if they use the same pump housing in the 300 to make it that quiet. Judging from your video maybe not, but it's hard to say with videos sometimes.

Well I've played around with other machines at Clive Coffee, most of them had rotary pumps though so they were super quiet. I don't remember it being any louder than the BDB, it didn't make an impression on me one way or the other. I know Clive doesn't sell the Pro 500, but WLL does, and they plan on selling the Pro 300 eventually. Maybe give them a call and see if they can do a sound comparison for you? I can say that I live in a small house, and with my bedroom door closed, the machine does not wake my wife! Good enough for me!

FYI, WLL has confirmed (in YouTube comments) that their Pro 300 has 2 x 800w elements - so their version of the machine can run on a 15 amp circuit.
