Mazzer/Rio Super Jolly owners, please help answer some questions - Page 2

Yeah, Ebay can be a pain, but it can also be awesome.

I just won a Gralab450 for 31bucks. They sell new for $200+. Mine isn't brand new, but its in perfect working condition. Should be here in a few days.

When I bought my Major off Ebay.. I used Buy it Now.

right now, 1st-Line has the SuperJolly, both in Black and Silver, with the Timer. Just click on the Picture of the SJ.

In all seriousness "jammin" I appreciated your prompt e-mail response to my question for that e-bay auction. I do not have good luck buying stuff on e-bay if I can't be online at time auction ends. For that auction I did not have internet access in the minutes before that auction ended to change my high bid.

thx:)

not be another Vario fanboy, but if you're purchasing a grinder for your home use, it rocks AND it IIIS black lol;) GL amigo!

Cheers,

Don't forget to check Craig's list, and coffeegeek buy, sell, trade forum.

As indicated by others, the price can be negotiated.

SwingT,
I should have put in my original post that I also am looking at CG for sale forum and craigslist. Prices and condition are similar to e-bay.

Changing topics:
any HB forum members have answer to my original question 2. I ask this in case (after tomorrow calling Chris Coffee and 1st line) they do not have black timer only or black manual new SJs available.

If auto-dosing models are the only ones available and you are uncomfortable about modifications, I suggest asking if the vendor would be willing to disable it prior to shipment. A qualified technician could do the job in short order.

Actually, it probably only can be a custom 58mm. :D That is, you can only get a vacuum seal if "custom" means (+/-) 0.1mm options. I posed the same question here, and the agreed upon answer was

The dimensions are 60mm at the top. This extends straight down for approx 8.8mm, at which point it narrows to approx 58.2mm.

All 58mm tampers should work very well for anti-popcorning purposes.

In Homer Simpson voice (again): Doh!!

Poor use of search terms on my end for my original post question #3; darn newbie mistake.

Seriously though thanks "mini". I got a "yeah right..." look when I showed here the pic of the Pullman I want.

I wouldn't worry too much. 8) It's not like you asked something listed specifically in the FAQ section.

Well, I can't help with convincing your wife directly, but I will say that high quality tampers are impressive. My girlfriend, who doesn't even like coffee, thinks my Bocote EspressoParts tamper is "really pretty." My best friend, who doesn't even own a machine or grinder said, "I want one." So good luck.

Back on topic, however...

Michael,
There are several Jollys for Buy it now on eBay. Also, you should get an ebay snipe program (eg Auction Sentry) which will automatically place your bid even when you're not around. You're at a big disadvantage not to have one of these programs. There are lots of Mazzers that show up on eBay. That's where I found mine (black). Michael

You may also want to look under the rebadged brand names (Rio, Astoria) - I picked up an Astoria branded Mazzer (black) with timer in excellent condition shipped for $375 (eBay). Nobody else had even seen the auction, but I used a snipe program anyway.

The other thing I like about the black is that you can shine it up. I used some polishing compound to smooth out the paint, a three step car polishing system to restore the shine, and two coats of wax to get a very nice glossy finish. Looks pretty sharp to me. Good luck.

Enjoy your experience.
