Manual grinder - Zassenhaus or Kyocera?

Postby zenit55 on Tue Aug 23, 2011 5:00 pm

I am looking for an espresso grinder to start using my long unused espresso maker again.

Manual ones seem to be the cheapest solution for me (i dont mind cranking the thing).

I currently narrowed down my search to Kyocera CM-45 or a Zassenhaus 175M turkish mill.
Is there a general consensus on which grinder would work out better and last longer?

I've read some negative information about wear rates on the Zassenhaus metal bits.

looking for any kind of feedback!

Might I suggest a third option? I have a Kyocera and a Porlex, and the Porlex is much better for espresso. The grinds are fluffier and more even and there is less static. They both use the same, identical burrs, but I feel the Porlex is made better.

I don't have the Zass Turkish mill, but I have a Sozen mill (which, apparently, is more highly regarded in Turkey than the Zass). I prefer my Porlex to my Sozen for espresso.

Not exactly the answer you were looking for.
