In one sentence, tell me why I should buy one over the other. Same price, same condition.

I know, lever machine vs e61 (sort of). Plumbing etc is not an issue.

Can anyone say if this machine would be better than my La Spaziale New EK? I am considering picking it up.

Cheers!

Very different machines. Sorta like between a 70's 900 SS Desmo and a 90's 888, which is "better"? If you lean towards the 900, probably the Orion.

Ah. Such a good comparison. I have a 749 sitting in my garage at the moment, but the 888 takes all!

Have been out of bikes for awhile(3/4 titanium from the waist down), so not familiar with the 749, looks like a fun canyon scratcher. Had a couple of Laverdas, RGA/S 1000, towards the end of my riding days.

Nowadays my hot Italians make coffee, which has probably extended my lifespan a bit.
