My Duetto was one of the first models and I have repaired it quite a few times over the years (failed electronics, it's used a lot). Now I'm looking at upgrading, possibly to a GS/3. Besides a paddle version and an automatic, are there several versions? Has anything happened to it since it was released? Any other similar machines that I should look at?

I've been looking at the Slayer one group lately though. Have enquired about pricing and, unless its a lot more than I hope, I will pre-order one.

Problem then is I should update the grinder as well....

The Slayer is going to be a lot more then the GS3. One Australian site has it listed at $13,000. Probably around $10,000 over here.

Seriously? You're asking that on this site! You must know the answer will be yes. While no question the SJ is a quite respectable grinder also no question regardless the espresso machine there are better grinders in the cup.

Just got most recent price list last month: base one group Slayer $8500 US. Hot water tap $500 additional, pre-brew times $330. Then there are various trim/finish customizing uplifts available.

I also heard prices starting at $8500. I also know HasBean is offering it for £6850. I am unsure what is included and what is optional though. If you don't mind pm'ing me the price list I would appreciate that. I have contacted Jason at Slayer as well but I have not heard back from him yet (sure I will soon enough though).

When importing to Norway and using a favourable currency exchange from the US at the moment the price difference isn't that major. I think. I hope. I have to sell my soul to pay for this anyway, hehe!

Here is a short summary of the Slayer features and specs.

There are no other machines from Slayer in my area so I will have to go by reputation alone for cup quality. Not that I think I will be dissapointed. I also like the features, like the setup they have for managing pre-brew pressure. I think this be a better option for a home-user like myself compared to a stepless operation like the La Marzocco Strada. I want the option to explore and adjust pre-brew, but prefer that it is not a parameter that will add variables for all shots all the time.
