After 5 years my Isomac Tea - which has worked great through the years - needs a repair. The best advice I've seen is to just send it to Stefano in OR, which I will do. This experience got thinking about replacing the Tea with a machine that can repaired locally by a business that will be around for the next few years/decade. Turns out Mr. Espresso in Oakland does a wide range of repairs including ECM and Elektra. I covet the Elektra but it's out of my budget. The ECM/Rocket machines look like a good alternative that can be repaired locally. Any thoughts on this machine vs. the Tea. Or, any other machines that can be repaired locally in the Bay Area.

The Isomac is built from generic parts, readily available from any espresso supply place. It's quite possible that Mr Espresso, or any local commercial espresso shop, can do the required repairs.

I agree with Jim. They should be able to repair it locally. What exactly does it need? Maybe you could even do it yourself.

Not sure exactly. Turned it on one morning and it wouldn't draw an espresso. Truthfully I didn't investigate it further.

Really? I cannot find anything on their website about Elektras -- ECMs and Faemas. How did you find out? Having an Elektra, this would be good to confirm . . . just in case.

Cheers,
Jason

how about the lights
etc etc

I called and they rattle off the list, ECM/Giotto, Faema, Elektra, etc. You may want to call to confirm.

That is kind of like purchasing a new car because you got in yours and it did not start. Then you find out it was out of gas and you blew a lot of money.

Does it heat, does the pump run when you raise the lever, do the lights come on, or do all the lights come on at the same time. It could be a very simple thing
