Does anyone have experience with the Gaggia New Baby? What is the machine's reliability, performance?

Yup. Owned one for over two years. Great machine to start on. You won't go wrong.

I recently sold mine because it really doesn't keep up when we're entertaining, and because I want something with a little better temperature stability.

Get a good grinder, fresh roasted coffee (14 days post-roast is stale.), and you'll be off to a good start.

I can't agree more. I had a New Baby for the past two years and it really helped me figure out what features I needed in my next machine. It is a good start on the path to espresso nirvana but does have it's limitations when entertaining or producing back to back latte type drinks.

If you do go with the Gaggia be sure to upgrade to the Silvia steam wand... it'll make a world of difference in your ability to produce latte art quality microfoam.

Thanks guys. Could you tell me what the four buttons on the front are for, from left to right?
Also, how long is warm up time?

I've been able to pour Latte art with the stock wand. I was told I couldn't upgrade when I bought.

The middle two aren't buttons they're the power and boiler lights. The left button is the power button. The far right button is the pump (brew button).

I always let it warm up at least 20 minutes, although it could be ready to brew at around 10 min.

If this espresso machine takes around 20 min. to warmup, can this machine be turned on in the morning and left on all day and turned off at night?

I've never been sure whether this was a good idea or not, but I did leave mine on pretty well all day. Never experienced any problems, but I can't say for sure whether it was a good idea or not.
