Expobar espresso machines still run hot?

Postby passdesj on Mon Dec 06, 2010 11:18 am

Hi there !

I'm in a big dilemma, wondering about those Expobar machines, the Office and the Lever. I'm really into buying a good machine in the 1500 CAN range. I'm reading lots of stuff about those good spanish machines, but a lot of the reviews and comments are from 2006 or so... I know HX machines runs hot, and flushes are essential. But is the overheating problems of Expobar still there in 2010 ? If I have to spend more money to buy a manometer portafilter, or send it back to repair for a default valve ( I'm buying this machine in canada, and via internet ), should I think about another brand ?

Thanks a lot !!!

Pascal, I've had an Expobar Brewtus III vibe Pump DB since March and haven't had any problems with it. It's temperature holds within a degree most of the time (typically on the low side vs hot side) of where it is set on the PID, currently set at 202. Hope that helps

I haven't used the Control in years; it required a long flush. On the other hand, Jon's Installing thermosyphon restrictor on expobar office pulser explains how you can reduce the idle temperature. From what I've read, the restrictor is stock in some markets (Australia?) and not in others. I don't know if that still holds true...
