Is changing a vibe machine to a rotary machine consist of changing the pump and adding a motor or is there more to it?

A1: No, see Do most plumb-in machines require external pressure? The Izzo Alex II, for example, has a rotary pump and switches between tank/plumbed-in.

A2: For the most part, yes. Vibratory pumps pressurize more slowly than rotary pumps, providing a sort of preinfusion I've dubbed "progressive preinfusion". Pressure profiles, preinfusion and the forgiveness factor elaborates on this point.

The motor for a rotary pump is several times the size and power of a vibratory pump. So you need the space and electronics that can handle it.

Many full sized commercial machines have an "outboard" pump mounted where there is room, close to the machine.
