Ceado E37 Electronic Grinder

Postby jlunavtgrad on Thu Oct 21, 2010 1:22 pm

I saw this video over at wholelattelove about the Ceado E37. Seems like this grinder would be well suited for the kitchen counters of some home baristi. The grinder is a new flat burred electronically timed doserless. The adjustment mechanism looks really neat. You can remove the burr carrier and not have to recalibrate the grind setting. That would make cleaning the grinder's insides a lot less of an ordeal. The motor, bean hopper, and burr assembly are held to the case by a flexible mounting system that is supposed to reduce noise. The grinds don't look as fluffy as the videos I've seen of the Nino or the K30, but the price is a bit better too. Does anyone have any more info than what is in the video? How well received are the other Ceado grinders?

I see some design features I like, but the output seems rather clumpy. I'm not sure if WLL discounts the grinder if you ask for a deal, but you can pick up a K30 for less than the advertised price of the Ceado.

I do like the look of it. The size and shape are very appealing, as well as the large grind catch area.
The output does look a bit clumpy, but not as bad as it could be.
It's also nice to see a pulse button. 8)

It seems like it's aimed toward the prosumer home market, yet they still have this gigantic hopper. :|

I'd love to hear from anyone who has any experience with this grinder or even this brand. What do you make of the fact that the motor manufacturers calibrate the burr alignment instead of Ceado? Will the better burr alignment tolerance make an impact in the cup?

Quite pricey that grinder in the US. We pay about half the price here in Berlin. But well, long journey from Italy to Wholelattelove that is. ;)

Have tried the machine and liked it a lot. I think I will take it besides my doserless converted Super Jolly as second grinder. It's in fact as trusty and solid as it seems and easy operating. And it's a pleasure to use. Only one question - how much old stuff remains in the funnel, getting stale and how easy is it, to clean the remainders off? I wished, they would have told us something about that on the video. I think I will find out myself at the shop who is selling it right here in Berlin and let you know.

I have one, received from my wife for Christmas. Very pleased with the ease of use. Have it close to where I want it as of timing. The grind is somewhat clumpy, and it is the same issue I had with my previous grinder.

Since I am not a "tool guy" I was drawn to the ease of use and maintenance of this grinder. I also did not want to "fuss" over the doser anymore. Not much left in the chute, less than 1 gram from what I most recently dug out. The grinder is extremely quiet. I use a 2 inch piece of piping as a bean funnel to the grinding chamber. Overall the grinder, when used this way is not imposing on the counter, about the same size as an M4 Macap.

The output from my espresso machine seems to have smoother crema consistency, however I have not blind tasted this point.

Got if from Whole Latte Love when they were running a decent discount on the grinder. Was looking at the K8 Fresh and M30 at same time. Difference in pricing was 250 and 550 from what I paid. Overall I would do this again. My grinder and machine are safe from upgradeitis for quite a while.
